Bollywood stars are often given pet names. Either it’s a family affair (Hrithik Roshan is Duggu while Kareena Kapoor Khan is Bebo) other times it’s the media (Katrina Kaif as Kat) and sometimes, it’s colleagues who come up with a funny name. Abhishek Bachchan started with the trend years ago when he started calling Priyanka Chopra ‘Piggy Chops’ on the sets of Bluffmaster. Recently, Deepika Padukone was called a ‘Giraffe’ and this nick name was given by none other than director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Bhansali usually comes across as a quite person and a total recluse, hence it’s surprising that he called her such a fun and not-so-politically correct name. Interestingly Deepika is the only actress after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who has been cast in his film more than once. Clearly the two share a great bond. Sanjay gushed about her in a recent interview saying that he gets hypnotised when he sees her face on screen and that she has swan-like neck. When Dippy heard this compliment, she says that she has been called a gazelle, a swan and sometimes even a giraffe! After working together in Goliyon Ki RaasLeela: Ram-Leelathey have teamed up again for Bajirao Mastani, which will release this year.
