You remember the first time, Ranveer Singh became Ranveer Ching? Energetic as ever, Ranveer mouthed Gulzar’s beautiful rhyming schemes and danced to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s celebration of a Bollywood dance number. Well, he’s back and even though Rohit Shetty is at the helm, the ad can’t look more like heap of over-spent, rehashed rubbish.
The ad begins with visuals of a Mad Max-esque post apocalyptic world, which is plagued with hunger. And as the bad guys are hoarding food from the common people, boom! Arrives our hero looking like a cross between Johnny Depp’s Lone Ranger and Tom Hardy’s Mad Max, as he thumps his way into action and serves ‘Indian Chinese’ to hungry people.
Now, here’s where the ‘advertisement’ starts going downhill as Tamannah Bhatia becomes the ‘gaon ki gori’ who is hitting on the hottie in town. And Ranveer compliments with the cheesiest lines. Suddenly the ‘ad’ which is still running because God knows why, they start dancing to a rehashed version of the Arijit Singh song from the original ad.
The ‘climax of the ad’ obviously has to show the ‘villain’ with a menacing laughter, getting beaten to pulp by the hero’s bare-hands. The advertisement might have promised a spectacle with all the build up considering Ranveer Singh’s successful endorsements with Durex and the first leg of the Ching’s Secret. And this one falls way short. It might or might not affect the sales, and if they don’t the suits at Ching’s might think about what is this mess of an advertisement they’ve made.
