Shoppers in City Walk Dubai could be mingling with monkeys if a Dubai firm rolls out plans to open an equatorial jungle at City Walk in Jumeirah.
The Green Planet bio-dome will be filled with more than 3,000 plants and animals and what developers are calling the world’s largest indoor man-made tree, standing at 25 metres.
The dome’s enclosed ecosystem, the first of its kind in the region, will give visitors the chance to learn more about the environment, or simply chill out under a majestic green canopy.
Creators Meraas Leisure & Entertainment, which recently opened The Dome Box, Dubai’s first 360 cinema says The Green Planet is on track to open in the first half of 2016.
And, yes, its green credentials are in check – the plans have received a internationally-recognized certificate in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
It’s part of ongoing developments at City Walk phase two, which according to artists’ impressions is a green-lined outdoor walkway of retail delights due to open any time soon.
