Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making sure that his film has a wider reach down south
For many years now, regional films have been dubbed in Hindi and released in small screens.
But off late, dubbed films are getting a lot of attention in film industries. After Hindi dubbed version of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali roared at box office, films like Puli and Rudhramadevi have also tried their luck to woo the Hindi speaking audience. Now, it is time for Bollywood to attract regional crowd by dubbing their films.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh – Deepika Padukone -Priyanka Chopra is being dubbed into Tamil and Telugu. While one might wonder if regional audience will actually go for the dubbed version, we would like to remind you that one more big film, which released recently, was dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was dubbed into Tamil and Telugu as Meymarandhen Paaraayo and Prem Leela respectively.
Though regional dubbed versions of Salman’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo failed at box office, this hasn’t deterred SLB from trying his hand on dubbing his film. ” Bajirao Mastani has been a story I have been yearning to tell and I am glad that cine-goers in the south regions will get to watch the film in their own language. This is a dream I have lived with for several years and I’m looking forward to audiences across markets living my dream with me”, said the filmmaker.
Will Bajirao Mastani manage to attract regional audience with dubbed versions of Bajirao Mastani? Lets wait and watch!
