One of the most sought-after yesteryear actresses Mamta Kulkarni under scanner for allegedly assisting her husband Vicky Goswami in a drug overhaul worth a whopping Rs 2,000 crore.
According to reports, Kenya-based Goswami has been declared the kingpin of an international drug racket; he has been named as the mastermind behind a huge scheme to smuggle drugs into the United States from a factory in Solapur, Maharashtra via Kenya.
Thane police commissioner Parambir Singh has been quoted as saying that Mamta Kulkarni’s role is being investigated as this is an international racket and Goswami is the prime link to it.
Reports suggest that during a raid at a pharmaceutical factory earlier this week, the police in Thane found around 20,000 kilos of substances used in party drugs. The material found is reportedly worth Rs 2,000 crores.
Vicky Goswami is currently out on bail, after being arrested by the Kenyan Police earlier; both Mamta and her husband are currently in Kenya.
It is pertinent to note that this is not the first time that Vicky has been charged with a drug offence. He was arrested in 1997 for drug smuggling in Dubai and was imprisoned for 15 years. After being released, Vicky moved to Kenya along with wife Mamta. Source
