March in Dubai is pretty evenly split between food and art, what with the Dubai Food Festival spilling over from late Feb and Art Dubai and all its accompanying arty events dominating the second half of the month. If food isn’t your thing (*gasp!*) and you don’t really fancy art much, don’t worry – there’s plenty to do in March apart from gorging yourself on food and feasting your eyes on art.

Here are just 20 of the funnest/most interesting/tastiest things you can take advantage of this March. And this is just the tip of the iceberg considering that we’re leaving out St. Paddy’s, Mum’s Day and Easter!

The Times of India Film Awards

One of the largest live Bollywood events, the Times of India Film Awards takes place in Dubai on March 18 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai Sports City with huge Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez taking part in the show.

The event will feature performances from Bollywood and Indian film superstars, with awards chosen by a special panel and also by popular choice by the public. Shah Rukh Khan, known as the Baadshah of Bollywood, has appeared in over 80 Bollywood films and is one of the most successful film stars in the world. Joining Shah Rukh Khan is Badlapur star Varun Dhawan, who made his acting debut in 2012 and has quickly become one of the Bollywood scene’s biggest stars.

Alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan, there will be two of Bollywood’s leading ladies present on the night.

Kareena Kapoor is one of the genre’s most popular and highest paid actresses, and has played the lead roles in everything from romantic comedies to crime dramas, while Jacqueline Fernandez is a Bahraini-Sir Lankan actress and former model, who represented her country at the 2006 Miss Universe pageant. She’s also a big Bollywood star, having starred in Aladin, Housefull 2 and Race 2, which were big box office hits.

First held in Vancouver, Canada in 2013, the Times of India Film Awards were seen by an audience of over 50,000 people making it a huge global event for the Bollywood scene. And with big Bollywood names like Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in attendance on the night, this is sure to be a star-powered event.
